Floating timber staircase against a perforated jali screen, designed by 4th Dimension

Architects · Planners · Interior Designers — Surat, since 2002

Buildings are experienced in time.
We design for the fourth dimension.

The Practice

We don't have a signature style. We have a signature outcome — sukoon.

4th Dimension is a multi-disciplinary design practice founded in Surat in 2002 by Ar. Deepak Sahajwani. For over two decades we have designed residences, interiors, and commercial spaces for clients across India — from Mumbai to Chennai, Coimbatore to Lonavla.

What defines our work is not a material or a palette — those evolve with every project and every era. It is our ability to listen to a client's hopes and translate them into space. Every project is different because every client is different. What never changes is what we hold the design to: openness, minimalism, and comfort.

How We Design

Design is not the play of materials. It is the experience of living.

A home should offer sukoon — a word with no exact English equivalent, somewhere between peace, ease, and stillness. That is what we design toward: spaces that are open, uncluttered, and deeply comfortable to live in, day after day, year after year.

The materials change with every project. The discipline doesn't: openness, minimalism, comfort. Currently our work leans tonal and texture-led — but that is today's expression of the philosophy, not the philosophy itself.

ListenEvery project begins with the client's hopes, not our preferences
OpenLight, air, and sightlines before ornament
MinimalNothing in the room that doesn't earn its place
ComfortDesigned for daily life, not for the photograph
MaterialStone, timber, plaster, weave — chosen per project, never by formula
TimeSpaces that adapt and age well — the fourth dimension

Education

We also teach.

Ar. Deepak Sahajwani taught interior design for two decades. Today the practice runs AI for Architects & Interior Designers — a live workshop teaching practicing professionals how to integrate AI tools into real design workflows, using live project work from this studio.
